About GameVox
A small, independent company with a long history in gaming voice communication.
You are the customer, not the product. We will never shove ads down your throat or sell your data. We only ask for a fair payment to keep the lights on. Our only obligation is to you.
Who We Are
GameVox is built by LightSpeed Gaming, a small independent company that has been providing voice communication platforms to gaming communities for well over a decade.
We're not a venture-backed startup chasing growth metrics. We have no investors to answer to, no board of directors pushing for monetization schemes, and no plans to go corporate. The only people we need to satisfy are our customers and ourselves. That's how we like it.
Our History
We've been in the voice communication space longer than most. Over the years, LightSpeed Gaming has hosted and operated some of the most well-known platforms in gaming:
- Early days — We started by hosting Mumble servers, providing low-latency voice chat for gaming clans and communities when options were limited.
- Ventrilo era — We became one of the largest Ventrilo hosting providers, serving thousands of gaming communities who relied on us for reliable, high-quality voice chat.
- TeamSpeak years — As the landscape evolved, we expanded into TeamSpeak hosting, continuing to support communities who demanded professional-grade voice communication.
- 2023 — LightSpeed Gaming acquired Ventrilo, the iconic voice chat platform that had been a staple of online gaming for over two decades.
- 2025 — After working behind the scenes, we launched GameVox in open beta — a voice chat platform built from the ground up with everything we've learned over the years.
Why We Built GameVox
After years of hosting other people's platforms, we knew what gamers actually needed. We saw the industry shift toward platforms that treat users as products — harvesting data, pushing ads, and making decisions driven by investors rather than users.
We decided to build something different. GameVox is the voice chat platform we always wanted to exist: fast, private, feature-rich, and built entirely around what our users actually want. No ads. No data selling. No corporate nonsense.
What We Believe
Customers First
We have one group to satisfy: our users. No investors, no advertisers, no third parties pulling the strings. When you pay for GameVox, you're paying for a service — not becoming a product.
Privacy by Default
We don't record your calls, scan your messages for ad targeting, or sell your data. Your conversations are yours. Period.
Small and Focused
We're a small team and proud of it. Being small means we can move fast, listen directly to feedback, and make changes daily without layers of bureaucracy.
Built for Gamers
We've been in the gaming voice space for over a decade. We know what works because we've lived it — from Mumble to Ventrilo to TeamSpeak to now.
Powered by AWS
GameVox runs on Amazon Web Services — the same infrastructure trusted by the world's largest companies. That means automatic scaling, high availability, and reliability you can count on.
Where We're Headed
GameVox is in open beta, and we're improving it every single day based on real feedback from real users. We're not trying to become the next billion-dollar platform. We're trying to build the best voice chat for gaming communities — and we think we're well on our way.
If you have feedback, ideas, or just want to say hello, reach out to us at support@gamevox.com. We actually read every message.
