This Privacy Policy explains how GameVox ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use our application, website, and related services (the "Service"). We don't sell your personal data or use it for advertising.
1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your username, email address, and password
- Profile Information: Any optional information you add to your profile, such as display name, avatar image, or bio
- Communications: Messages, files, and other content you share through the Service
- Support Requests: Information you provide when contacting us for support
1.2 Information We Collect Automatically
When you use our Service, we automatically collect certain information:
- Usage Information: Information about how you use the Service, such as servers joined, channels accessed, and features used
- Device Information: Information about the device you use to access the Service, including device type, operating system, and browser type
- Log Data: Server logs that may include your IP address, access times, and error reports
- Connection Information: Technical data necessary for voice and video communication, such as connection quality metrics
1.3 What We Don't Collect
Voice and video calls are not recorded or stored on our servers. Media streams are forwarded through a WebRTC selective forwarding unit (SFU) and are not persisted. We don't scan message content for advertising, and we don't use tracking pixels or third-party ad trackers. Your data is never sold to data brokers or advertisers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Create and manage your account
- Enable communication between users
- Send you technical notices, updates, and security alerts
- Respond to your comments, questions, and support requests
- Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions and abuse
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:
- With Other Users: Information you share publicly (like your username, avatar, and profile) is visible to other users you interact with
- With Server Owners: Server administrators may have access to activity logs and moderation tools within their servers
- Service Providers: We may share information with third-party service providers who help us operate the Service (e.g., hosting providers, email services), under strict confidentiality agreements
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request
- Business Transfers: If GameVox is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction
4. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You can request account deletion at any time. When you delete your account, profile information is removed immediately. Messages may be retained in anonymized form or deleted based on server settings. Backups containing your information are purged within 30 days. We may retain certain data longer where required by law.
5. Data Security
Chat messages, signaling, and file transfers use WebSocket and HTTP over TLS. Voice and video streams use WebRTC media (SRTP over DTLS), with encoding handled client-side. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. The GameVox application runs on Amazon Web Services across multiple regions with automatic scaling. The gamevox.com website is served through Cloudflare Pages. We limit employee access to personal data and conduct regular security assessments.
No transmission or storage system is perfectly secure, but we follow industry practice to protect your data.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information
- Data Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Objection: Object to certain processing of your personal information
- Withdrawal of Consent: Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

7. Children's Privacy and Safety
The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided personal information should contact us immediately, and we will delete it.
7.1 Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)
GameVox prohibits child sexual abuse material and any content that sexually exploits minors. In accordance with 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, we report apparent child exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and preserve evidence as required by law.
When processing a CSAM report, we may retain and disclose IP addresses, account details, device information, timestamps, and the offending content to NCMEC and law enforcement. This data is preserved for a minimum of 90 days as required by federal law, regardless of other retention policies or deletion requests.
To report content that exploits or endangers a child, email safety@gamevox.com or use the in-app reporting tools.
8. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, which may have different data protection laws. By using the Service, you consent to these transfers. Where required, we use standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms to protect your data.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be announced via the Service or email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
